There are four roof window types available to choose from (listed below). Each come with their own individual benefits, which can fit to the needs of a certain project.
VELUX branded roof windows are available in all four roof window types. Solstro branded roof windows are available in centre-pivot only.
Centre-Pivot Roof Windows
The centre-pivot roof window is top-operated. The innovative top control bar allows for the installation location of the window to be lower than an equivalent bottom-operated window to get a clear view while standing and when seated and makes it easy to open, even with furniture underneath. We recommend these windows being installed higher than 120cm from the floor. Suitable for roof pitches between 15° and 90°.
Top-Hung Roof Windows
The top-hung roof window is operated with a handle at the bottom. The top-hung roof windows are an ideal choice for loft conversions with roof windows in easy reach. This gives the added benefit of an unobstructed skyline view and maximizes the amount of natural daylight that can be allowed in. We recommend these style of windows to be installed 80-130 cm from the floor. The top-hung roof windows can be used as a means of escape. Suitable for roof pitches between 15° and 55°. Also suitable for pitches between 55° and 75° with special springs - please specify when ordering.
VELUX INTEGRA® Roof Windows
VELUX INTEGRA® is an innovative system of remote-controlled windows. Driven by a motor and powered either by electricity or solar cells, the VELUX INTEGRA® windows are ideal for out of reach situations. Open and close with just one touch of the wall switch. The wall switch is included in the package and can be mounted on or off the wall.
Flat Roof Windows
Flat roof windows allow you to transform flat roofs of 0-15 degrees. VELUX flat roof windows are an alternative to traditional skylights that don’t allow for substantial airflow. These roof windows provide optimal light exposure while retaining maximum privacy, which makes them ideal for areas such as bathrooms, as they allow for a sense of privacy that traditional windows cannot offer but can still be opened to ventilate the space. Available in fixed or electrically operated bases. Please note, when selecting the flat glass top unit, there must be a roof pitch of at least 2 degree.
